ADSL Faceplate bell wire filter?

We've been asked if the ADSL faceplates we sell feature the bell wire filter like on the latest NTE5's we sell. The simple answer is no as there is no need! The bell wire filter only comes into play when an extension is run off an NTE5 where the ADSL signal is being sent along a cable that has the bell wire in it. Lets look at this for each version of the faceplate :-

3 Way version http://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/BTNTE5ADSLfaceplate.html

The signal comes in from BT into the NTE5, the filtered faceplate provides an unfiltered RJ45 port for ADSL equipment, the faceplate also provides a central point for FILTERED extensions, as these are isolated from the ADSL signal there is no need for a bell wire filter. The ADSL signal NEVER travels down a cable with a bell wire.

6 Way Version http://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/BTNTE5ADSLfaceplate6way.html

As above the signal comes in from BT into the NTE5, again the faceplate provides an unfiltered RJ45 port for ADSL equipment. However it also provides an A & B connection for an ADSL extension (if you want to have your modem/router in a location other than where you master socket is), as this is a "raw" signal it will require either another NTE5 with filtered faceplate (or one of these http://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/BTsocketFILTEREDwithRJ11.html )if a phone is also to be connected or an RJ11 socket (http://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/RJ11socket.html) if ADSL only to be connected at the other end. As there is no third bell wire there is no need for a bell wire filter! There is no bell wire on this ADSL extension-exactly like there isn't a bell wire on the miles of cable from BT's exchange all the way to your property!
In short if you have extension wiring then the latest NTE5 with bell wire filter OR a filtered faceplate will do exactly the same job and could improve ADSL performance.

Some retailers are claiming their faceplates have a bell wire filter, these people obviously do not understand how the faceplates work!!!

This is also the reason users do not need to think about fitting a BT I Plate in conjunction with a filtered faceplate. BT I Plate instructions also state this. In order of preference users should consider a new model NTE5 but ideally fit a filtered faceplate.

The below diagram shows where the problem arises.

As none of the instances above have the bell wire with the ADSL signal a bell wire filter is not required.
