ADSL & VDSL Patch Leads
Replacing the standard flat ADSL/VDSL lead supplied with most modems/routers with a twisted pair cable such as CAT5e or CW1308 can often result in download speed improvements and improved noise rejection resulting in fewer line errors.
The ADSL CW1308 versions feature RJ11 plugs with gold plated contacts at both ends so are suitable for connecting to filtered faceplates and normal plug in ADSL filter "dongles". CW1308 is the exact same specification that BT/Openreach use to get the telephone signal from the exchange to your home.
The ADSL/VDSL versions are specifically designed for users that have a filtered faceplate master socket (the type that has two outlets, one for PHONE & one for BROADBAND. These versions are made from CAT5e specification cable which has a higher bandwidth than CW1308, important for the higher speed services now available. As filtered faceplates feature an RJ45 socket as opposed to RJ11 the lead has an RJ45 plug at one end for a tighter fit, the other end is RJ11 for connection to your modem/router. Both plugs have gold plated contacts for a pure signal. Note these leads can also be used with a Fritz!Box and a standard plug in filter, in this scenario the RJ11 plug goes to the DSL filter & the RJ45 end to the DSL input on the Fritz!box which is RJ45!
