Openreachâ„¢ Optical Network Terminal (Adtran ONT SDX601Q)
PRODUCT CODE: ONTSDX601Q
Openreach Optical Network Terminal (ONT) – Genuine Adtran GPON 2.5GbE 1-Port ONT SDX601Q
The Adtran SDX601Q is a compact, high-performance Optical Network Terminal (ONT) designed for Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband installations on compatible GPON networks, including deployments using Openreach infrastructure.
It converts the incoming optical fibre signal into a standard RJ45 Ethernet connection for a compatible broadband router. Its upgraded 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port offers greater connection capacity than a traditional 1Gbps ONT, making it suitable for supported higher-speed FTTP services.
A CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet patch cable can connect the ONT to the WAN/Internet port of your router, allowing the router to be positioned away from the fibre entry point for improved placement and Wi-Fi coverage.
Important – Openreach Activation Required: This ONT is not a plug-and-play replacement for an existing Openreach ONT. It must be registered and provisioned on the relevant fibre network by the network operator. Please check with your broadband provider before purchasing for a replacement or upgrade.
Features & Benefits:
- Genuine Adtran SDX601Q GPON ONT – designed for professional FTTP fibre installations.
- 2.5GbE RJ45 Ethernet port – supports 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps Ethernet connections.
- Multi-gigabit Ethernet interface – removes the 1Gbps Ethernet port limitation found on many earlier ONTs, subject to service and router compatibility.
- GPON fibre connectivity – bridges a single-fibre SC/APC optical connection to standard Ethernet.
- GPON transmission security – supports AES encryption and forward error correction on compatible operator networks.
- Single RJ45 output – connects directly to a compatible router's Ethernet WAN port.
- Compact construction – approximately 90mm x 80mm x 35mm for discreet installation.
- Flexible mounting – supports desktop or wall installation; other mounting options depend on suitable accessories.
- CAT5e/CAT6 compatible – allows the broadband router to be located away from the fibre termination point.
- Status LEDs – provide visual indications of the ONT's operating and connection status.
- Low-power operation – intended for efficient, continuous service.
- Silent and fanless – no moving parts or fan noise.
- Remote provisioning and management – supports service-provider configuration and diagnostics using GPON management protocols.
- No built-in Wi-Fi – use your preferred compatible broadband router and wireless equipment.

Ideal For:
Approved Openreach GPON FTTP installations using an Adtran ONT.
Compatible higher-speed FTTP services where a 2.5GbE Ethernet interface is required.
Professional network installation, maintenance and service-provider-approved replacements.
Residential and business FTTP deployments requiring a compact, single-port ONT.
Important Compatibility & Installation Information:
This ONT requires network-operator provisioning. Openreach records ONT serial numbers against the fibre service and premises. Simply disconnecting an existing ONT and plugging in this replacement will not normally establish a working connection, even when both devices use GPON technology.
An existing Openreach ONT is part of the network infrastructure and should not be replaced, moved or disconnected permanently without the appropriate arrangements through the broadband provider or Openreach. Compatibility, activation and any replacement must be confirmed with your broadband provider before purchase.
This ONT is not a router, does not provide Wi-Fi and does not activate a broadband service on its own. The 2.5Gbps figure is the maximum Ethernet link rate, not a guaranteed broadband download speed. Achievable speeds depend on the subscribed service, shared GPON capacity, router and other network equipment.
