First off to fit the NTE5 ADSL faceplate splitter you need to remove the front lower half of the NTE5 :-
You could discard the front lower plate but keep it just in case! :-
If your modem or router plugs into your master socket and you have no extension wiring all you need to do is plug the ADSL faceplate in! :-
If you have extension wiring for phones only then you have probably purchased the 3 way version (https://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/adsl-faceplates/BTNTE5ADSLfaceplate/) , to connect extension wiring (and do away with filters on all extensions) you need to wire to the back of the ADSL faceplate :-
You will see the IDC block is marked 2,3 & 5. Most modern phones will work with just 2 & 5, if your phones do not ring then connect pin 3. Simply connect wires to pins 2, 5 & 3 and connect to the same pins on your extension(s).
If your modem or router isn't by the master socket then you have probably purchased the 6 way IDC version (https://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/adsl-faceplates/BTNTE5ADSLfaceplate6way/).
For filtered(telephones, Sky boxes etc) extensions wire to the pins marked 2,3 & 5 as above :-
For the extension that you plan to run to your modem/router you MUST wire to the pins marked A & B. Most people find they want to plug there modem/router in away from the common master socket location (by the front door/ hallway etc) but would still like the neatness that a centralised filter gives.
Your modem/router will have an RJ11 plug on the end that plugs into the wall plate/filter, if you like you can wire the ADSL extension to a standard BT socket (https://www.run-it-direct.co.uk/bt-line-boxes-and-sockets/BTsocketsecondary/) and then use our BT to RJ11 socket converter to plug into :-

Users who wish to have both a centralised NTE5 filtered faceplate AND an extension for ADSL/Telephone use can use the following socket :-
Simply connect the blue pair to the A & B connections on the NTE5 faceplate, Blue/White goes to A and Blue goes to B
At the other end install the filtered socket-Blue goes to 2 & Blue/White goes to 5.
